After All I Bought A Canon

At last I bought a DSLR camera that I have been planning for sometimes. Eventhough at first I was aiming for the Nikon 40D but I ended up buying a Canon 1000D because of a better deal. There isnot much different between both models in term of the package offered. I opted for the Canon firstly for its higher megapixels (10.1) compared to 6.1 megapixels. Then the image stabiliser and of course the price. Its RRP is RM 1999 and most shop that I went to was selling the camera at the RRP. I bought mine at RM 1700 without the SD card which I turn down because I already have the card from my present camera.

Picture below: This is the Canon 1000D that I bought.

Below: This is the first trial I did after getting hold on the camera. A first time user with DSLR.

Ooooppssss, I did it again.

After I bought the camera, this is another try outdoor. Maybe the quality is not that good. After all a beginner using DSLR.
The two pictures below are the test for macro. The first is the test I tried out at the shop while the second at my house.

Canon EOS 1000D

Last night I went out again to survey for DSLR at Endah Parade of commonly known as Carrefour in Sri Petaling. There are two photo shops at Endah Parade. On one of them I browsed through the Canon EOS 1000D and also the Nikon D40. This Canon is a new model according to their website.

Between the two that I compared, 1000D has a 10.1 Imaging performance compared to 6.1 for Nikon D40.  1000D was tagged at RM 1999 which is a bit out of my budget. However I am planning to go to Low Yatt again tomorrow on the first day of 2009.

Is D40 OK For A Start?

I went out to LowYat browsing for a DSLR camera that I am intending to buy for a rebirth of my photography hobby.  At Low Yat I saw andinquire about a Nikon D40 and read about the product at Nikon website. Maybe I will buy that model for a start and hope to get some feedback from veteran photographers and camera enthusiast.

Of course my budget is around RM 1500 and that D40, I saw at Low Yat cots less than that.
